Home Theater Pick of the Week: Up
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Wed, 11/11/2009 - 09:00While Pixar’s Up has certainly dominated my attention over the past few weeks, leading up to it’s Blu-ray and DVD release this week, I want to take a minute to point out a few other releases below that haven’t gotten much attention. In fact, there are a couple that people may have missed entirely. In fact, the entire list of Blu-ray releases are worth scanning over this week.
Home Entertainment Pick of the Week: G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Sun, 11/01/2009 - 20:27We've gotten to the time of the year where a lot of the movies we saw earlier in the year are now making their way to DVD.
Home Entertainment Pick of the Week: Battlestar Galactica: The Plan
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Tue, 10/27/2009 - 20:07This week’s pick of the week should come as no surprise to anyone who has read this site or listened to our podcast in the past. The new Battlestar Galactica won me over quickly and kept me as a dedicated viewer throughout its entire run. Even the between-season webseries were fun to watch, as was the made-for-tv movie Razor. Now Ronald D.
Home Entertainment Pick of the Week: Drag Me to Hell
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Tue, 10/13/2009 - 19:47The mixture of Halloween and Christmas themed releases continues this week, again seeing many holiday specials and treats coming out on Blu-ray. We’re more in the mood for horror this time, and as horrific as Will Ferrell’s take on Land of the Lost may be, it’s not what we’re talking about.
Home Entertainment Pick of the Week: Anvil: The Story of Anvil
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Sun, 10/04/2009 - 10:53It’s the month of Halloween, which means studios are quickly trying to capitalize on that by tossing out re-releases of horror favorites on DVD and Blu-ray. This week that includes the lackluster Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and Wolf, as well as the long desired Trick ‘r Treat.
Home Entertainment Pick of the Week: Star Trek The Next Generation Movie Collection
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Tue, 09/22/2009 - 11:59A couple of months ago, just in time for J.J. Abrams Star Trek reboot, Paramount pleased fans by releasing Blu-ray editions of the original crew Star Trek movies.
Home Entertainment Pick of the Week: Big Bang Theory Season 2
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Tue, 09/15/2009 - 22:53I really wanted my pick of the week this week to be X-Men Origins: Wolverine, or at least that’s what I wanted a few months ago before I actually saw the movie. Now I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone. Sure, there’s some fun to be had with the latest X-Men movie, but it’s not the kind of thing you set above all others, even on a largely lackluster week like this.

Home Entertainment Pick of the Week: State of Play
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Sun, 08/30/2009 - 20:52When I saw State of Play in theaters, I wasn’t aware of the BBC Miniseries, beyond just knowing it existed. I wound up enjoying the Russell Crowe movie quite a bit, particularly the movie’s gutsy approach to the subject of “true” journalism vs. blogging journalism.
Home Entertainment Pick of the Week: Duplicity
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Tue, 08/25/2009 - 21:32There are several good releases this week, including a couple of leading contenders that are probably losing out since I haven’t seen them yet. Adventureland was surrounded by a good buzz that claimed the picture was mismarketed and one of this year’s overlooked gems, while Sunshine Cleaning and Rudo Y Cursi suffered from smaller releases.
