I thought this was the final episode for season five of The Guild. If it was, it probably would have been the most brilliantly agonizing ending Felicia Day could have created for her show. Thankfully, we get one more episode next week, and it’s going to be a doozy. Hell, this week’s episode is a doozy, but it doesn’t quite bring closure to the season (especially considering its abrupt, cliffhanger... 

We’re definitely getting to the end of this season of The Guild, which leaves me with mixed feelings. This has been a really solid season, so I will be sad to see it come to a close. At the same time, I am dying to know what’s going to happen with “The Game” – will its creator sell it or will the see the value of the game to guilds like the Knights of Good and keep it going, despite mindless... 

Okay, we’re reading the end of the season and, as the opening confessional of the latest episode tells us, the end of the Con. Time for some action, which means it’s also time to start sealing up storylines and focus back on the main story: the potential end of “The Game.” We also have the resolution to one of the episode’s big mysteries, although the outcome was about as predictable as any... 

As I’ve said in a few previous recaps: when the decision was made to set this season at a convention, Felicia Day was really setting the bar high. After all, we’ve all seen movies and television shows attempt to pull off the “con” setting with mixed results. In order to make it feel like a con you need costumed fans and you need celebrities – appropriate celebrities. We’ve been getting... 

How did I miss that I missed an episode last week? Seriously. This season of The Guild has kept me driven to tune in each week, but somehow I missed last week: a special kind of shame since the previous episode was such a fantastic episode, ending on an incredibly high note. Oh well. I consider myself punished, because I missed this episode’s awesomeness for almost a full week as well. Picking up... 

Setting this season at a giant convention means having to create the illusion of a convention. That’s quite an undertaking for a small webseries like the guild, but one they’ve pulled off fantastically so far. The background has been buzzing with extras, both in costumes and not. The exhibit hall feels genuine, with companies both real and fictitous. And then there are the guest stars. Previously... 

Well, most of my predictions from the previous episode have turned out to be 100% wrong. We’re not done with the Codex – Zaboo love story yet, as the couple tests things out this week to make sure they can’t make it work. We’re not focusing on the impending doom of “The Game” yet, with multiple other storylines still being worked on, including Clara’s newfound love of steampunk, Tink... 

Okay, I’m let getting to the latest episode (technically last week’s episode). That’s okay. It’s not like there’s a ton of people reading these anyway. It’s a shame, because The Guild continues to be one of the best web series, especially for those dealing with geek culture, and this season’s ongoing storyline about the convention going experience. It’s nice to see celebrities like... 

Oh my. Just when I thought The Guild couldn’t get much better, this episode comes along, where our mighty heroes head into the Con, we see the first logo for “The Game” (which is the World of Warcraft font, only the title is “The Game”), and watch Codex manage to crash and burn farther than before in one of the most entertaining episode conclusions ever. The romance story between Codex and... 

When I was a teenager and had my first few con experiences, they were much like what the members of The Guild are going through: a bunch of people crammed together into one sleeping room, having to deal with each other’s issues, and there are a ton of issues amongst these people. In my case, however, the issue was planned and intentional. Here, it’s out of desperation, and that adds even more fun...
