The holidays are coming early this year in the form of A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas. With their innocuous appearance and strangely addictive theme music, the Smurfs are back. One of the few surviving icons of the ‘80s that haven’t been brought back into the spotlight, the little blue creatures now have their own movie, complete in 3D, which take the mythic creatures and their fight with the wizard Gargamel out of the magical forests of familiarity and into the streets of modern...

In a recent post on our forums, I started a discussion on “war movies”, asking our community for some recommendations. Some of the usual suspects showed up in the discussion, as I expected, as did some films I hadn’t considered (which was the whole point of starting the discussion). Closing Tabs started as a weekly look at news we didn’t cover on the site throughout the week. As the site has grown, however, we’ve moved away from reporting most news (you can catch most of it regurgitated on other sites anyway) in favor of more original opinions and editorials. Still, that news is out there, clogging up the tabs on our browsers, so now we offer the column as a Tuesday/Thursday... 

This weekend we’re going to try our hand at something new… well, new for us. We’ll be Live Blogging the Emmy Awards ceremony, which airs on CBS, Sunday night at 8pm. Now, I won’t make any promises to be anywhere near as entertaining as Neil Patrick Harris, which is the real reason most of us will be watching this year’s awards ceremony. I don’t have any prizes to give away like other sites...
