Now it’s 100 episodes later… but the more things change, the more they stay the same. Much like Harry Potter and A Song of Fire and Ice (Game of Thrones), I discovered The Hunger Games as a series of novels because of the hype that was surrounding the adaptation of the series into another format, in this case a movie. It didn’t take long for me to fall in love with the incredible story of a very unlikely heroine, Katniss Everdeen, who volunteers her own life to save that of her sister... 

Before I start with the review proper, let me make this perfectly clear; I haven’t read a page of these books. I also haven’t seen stuff like Battle Royale or The Running Man or any of these other really famous blood sport movies people keep comparing The Hunger Games to. My opinions here are completely unbiased on either end and are only based on my own opinions. Well, now that the disclaimer...

There probably isn’t another movie on the horizon that I’m looking forward to as much as The Hunger Games. After devouring the trilogy this summer, I see how much potential there is for the series. X-Men: First Class is the latest addition to the X-Men franchise. Many hoped it would be a reboot of the franchise (including me), however it really comes across as more of a “back to the roots” type prequel. Winter’s Bone isn’t a new movie or even new to DVD, coming out midyear in 2010 with a fourth quarter DVD release. It is, however, an Oscar contender, which makes it worth examining despite not being a new release. It’s also an impressive piece of cinematic art, and I can’t recommend it highly enough for any cinema-phile who may have inadvertently and unknowingly missed the opportunity to see...
