Rafe’s Top Ten Movies of 2011
For the first time in all of my years of doing this, I’m not incredibly thrilled with my end of the year list. As usual, there are movies appearing on other people’s lists that I haven’t gotten to see, and unfortunate timing means I won’t be seeing them for another couple of weeks at the best. Rather than hold out on my “Best of” list for 2011 until the point that...

When he follows the advice of a wise armadillo – to follow his shadow west for one day’s journey, he ends up in the small western town of Dirt which is bone dry and needs to replenish their evaporating water supply. Quickly the imaginative lizard crafts a brazen back-story...
Margaret’s Trailer Park: Rango
In the desert there are many natural dangers and small western towns full of vigilantes, as well as dirt, sand, and scorching sun in every direction. There is also Rango. Rango features the poor and sadly unaware lizard, voiced by Johnny Depp, as he makes his way through the desert and into distant saloons populated by badgers. While the trailer for Rango is just a teaser with not much more than a...
Bioshock Gets a New Director
Even though I haven’t played the video game, I’m very interested in Bioshock as a film adaptation. What I do know about the game sounds ripe for a movie version, if put into the right hands. I wasn’t certain Pirates of the Caribbean’s Gore Verbinski had the right hands, although that’s irrelevant now that the director has moved into the producer seat and opted not to direct the picture.
Universal...
