Weekly Blend #231 - The Curse of Taylor Swift
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Sun, 06/13/2010 - 19:27Why are this summer's movies sucking so badly? This week we trace the cause back a few months to Valentine's Day, when Rafe warned everyone that Taylor Swift was sucking the talent out of the room. See how many of those cast members are in today's duds.
Closing Tabs Thursday: Return of the '80s
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Thu, 06/10/2010 - 18:14Closing Tabs started as a weekly look at news we didn’t cover on the site throughout the week. As the site has grown, however, we’ve moved away from reporting most news (you can catch most of it regurgitated on other sites anyway) in favor of more original opinions and editorials.
Weekly Blend #216 - Say No to Vin Diesel
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Sun, 02/07/2010 - 19:49We hit on a couple of casting questions/rumors this week in movie news, to which our chatroom tended to respond with Vin Diesel as their choice - an opinion the podcast crowd answered with a unified "No." We also talk about movie doldrums, and begin our look at Artist of the Month artist Sidney Poitier, with two fantastic films previously unseen by our staff.
Mark Webb Heading Up (500) Days of Spidey
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Wed, 01/20/2010 - 08:00We reported last week about Sony’s choice to reboot the Spider-Man franchise, kicking Sam Raimi, Toby Maguire, and all others to the curb. Some say it was a justifiable move, especially in light of differences between Raimi and the studio.
Spider-Man To Be Respun
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Mon, 01/11/2010 - 20:29If anyone had any doubt that Sony Pictures didn't get Spider-Man after their heavy interference in Spider-Man 3, we're about to remove all doubt. The studio clearly doesn't get why fans fell in love with Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 and have just meddled their way into a potential new disaster of super proportions.
Closing Tabs: Jumping the Shark Edition
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Sat, 09/19/2009 - 21:03Each week we take note of some stories circling the Internet that for some reason, whether it be time or fate or lack of personal interest, we don’t wind up covering on the site. By the end of the week, we wind up with a bunch of tabs open on our browsers and newsreaders that just end up sitting there waiting for more attention.
Does a Writer for Spider-Man Sequels Suggest Something Bad?
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Mon, 08/17/2009 - 06:39There’s good news and not so good news on the Spider-Man front. The good news is that Sony is moving forward with plans for more Spidey flicks - hiring writer James Vanderbilt to write two more sequels on top of the movie that’s already in pre-production.
Weekly Blend #187 - Slightly Inappropriate
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Sun, 06/14/2009 - 17:52Margaret and Tim push the limits of our show's standards as we dig into this week's news. It's nothing terribly offensive, but would best be described as slightly inappropriate.
No Wedding Bells For Spider-Man 4
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Wed, 06/10/2009 - 09:50Over the weekend we hypothesized a little bit about the plot for the upcoming Spider-Man 4. In the last week it came to light that Kirsten Dunst has signed on to reprise her role as Spidey’s love interest, Mary Jane Watson, and the previously rumored villain of Morbius, the Living Vampire, has been nixed. So what direction will the movie take?
Teaser Poster for Spider-Man 4
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Wed, 06/03/2009 - 22:22I'm very excited about all of the movies Marvel Comics has coming up. Iron Man 2 is definitely high on my list, and I'm very curious about how Thor and Ant-Man will be depicted. Above all else, however, I'm a Spider-Man fan, so any sort of word about the new movie gets me excited.
