Alright, all of you folks who have been complaining about a lack of originality from James Cameron’s blockbuster, Avatar, pay attention. The world’s most famous consulting detective is here in a new incarnation that is unlike anything we’ve seen before. Yet, Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes remains faithful to the source material, both in characterization and in content.

I’m intrigued about Robert Downey Jr.’s Sherlock Holmes, coming later this year. As our own Margaret pointed out in her trailer review, it’s hard to tell just how much of this movie will be comedic and how much will be more of an action flick. Somewhere in between is where Holmes will lie, and I’m interested to find out where.

The surprising trailer for Sherlock Holmes starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law opens with a bang and then gets, well, odd. The trailer seems to take on a vampire/undead like subject, switches to classic detective work, brushes on martial arts, and then ends as if the film is supposed to be a comedy.
