Weekly Blend #212 - Kevin's Beef
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Mon, 12/28/2009 - 20:54It's an episode so long we couldn't possibly cram it into our traditional hourlong format (a technical malfunction with the timer notwithstanding). Inside you'll hear reviews of Sherlock Holmes, Up in the Air, and Family Guy: Something, Something, Something Darkside, as well as the finish of James Cameron month with Strange Days and True Lies.
Weekly Blend #211 - Merry Christmas 2009
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Tue, 12/22/2009 - 19:24Snow may have delayed this week's episode, but we're all still having a jolly time, especially with the looming white Christmas in front of us. This week we talk James Cameron's Avatar, continue our appreciation of Cameron with Titanic and Ghosts of the Abyss, discuss Brittany Murphy's death, and the Golden Globe nominations.

Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Fri, 12/18/2009 - 22:53I’ve developed a pretty steady philosophy when it comes to reviewing movies on this site: waiting. Typically I wait to write a review until the next day. Let the movie digest a bit. Consider what still stands out a day later; what flaws come to mind as I think about the product as a whole or what moments stick in the mind.
Weekly Blend #210 - Where Are Brad Pitt and His Dudes?
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Sun, 12/13/2009 - 22:16This week brings you everything you could possibly want in an episode of the Weekly Blend. We have new movie reviews of Invictus and The Princess and the Frog. We look at upcoming DVDs The Hangover and Inglorious Basterds. James Cameron month is continued with talk of Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
Weekly Blend #209 - When You Stare Into the Abyss
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Sun, 12/06/2009 - 11:57Our earlier record tie this week prevented us from seeing any of the week's new releases, but this is still a full episode thanks to our in-depth look at James Cameron's Aliens and The Abyss. What makes Cameron's sequel better than the other Alien follow ups? Why is a cute kid acceptable? And why is The Abyss such a standout movie in our minds?
December 2009 Artist of the Month: James Cameron (Fan Selection)
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Tue, 12/01/2009 - 13:15The readers have spoken and our artist of the month for December is James Cameron, the director behind notable science fiction contributions like Aliens, Terminator, and (with luck), the upcoming Avatar.
Avatar Trailer Crashes Online (Almost Literally)
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Thu, 08/20/2009 - 06:23I’ve already been unimpressed with the marketing campaign for Avatar. The minimal information while filming filled some with anticipation, but not me. Considering my low expectations, I’m surprised this week has actually been a step down for the movie, with marketing moves failing at just about every step.
How To Get Your Avatar Day Tickets
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Fri, 08/14/2009 - 10:23Avatar day is fast approaching. The chance for fans to see a sneak peek at the movie comes to theaters for two showings only, 6:00 and 6:30pm next Friday, August 21st. Additionally, it’s not coming to all theaters - just IMAX screens and a select few 3-D theaters.
Why I Need Avatar Day To Come To a Theater Near Me
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Sun, 07/26/2009 - 10:42James Cameron’s next movie, Avatar, was essentially the keynote for this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Street signs gave what was essentially the first look at anything of depth from the movie, offering a glimpse at the film’s alien appearances.
Re-view: The Terminator
Submitted by Rafe Telsch on Thu, 05/21/2009 - 23:08My first exposure to The Terminator was strictly as an Arnold Schwarzenegger film. At the time I was on an action kick and Schwarzenegger was the king of that genre. Little did I know what an important part of geekdom the campy action thriller would play.
