Weekly Blend #292 – Is This the Beginning of the End?

We’re back after an extended hiatus, but for how long? We spend the first part of this week’s show talking about some (fairly obvious) changes that are going on with the show. Please give us your feedback after listening, either by commenting below, sending an e-mail, or joining the discussion on our forums.

Other than starting off on a negative note, Tim and Rafe talk about some of their favorite movies of 2011 and what they are most looking forward to in the new year. The discussion turns to novels for a bit as both are looking forward to The Hunger Games and Rafe is finally finishing The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Finally, we look at the nominations for the Golden Globes, which take place tonight. How will returning host Ricky Gervais do and how many people will he offend? Join us in the Widescreen Warrior chatroom to take part in our live discussion!

Just one George Lucas inspired rendition of a word: “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!”

I’ll post more on the forums, but suffice to say this is the one movie podcast I listen to, mostly because Rafe and co. are a voice that I have come to implicitly trust. You’ve done something special in letting your individual personalities and styles to shine through in your discussions of movies. Margaret will be sorely missed and never to be replaced and I can only hope by continuing the podcast we may see an eventual return of the Queen of the Podcast.

But don’t silence the voices of Rafe and Tim and Owen and any guests who may pass through the hallowed halls (like Rafe’s son in this episode) of the Widescreen Warrior studios. I believe if you continue to produce podcasts, you will always find an audience.

    Here’s hoping for another 300.

Don’t! Love this podcast! Sad to see Margret go, but I still want to hear Rafe, Tim & company give their opinions… even if I don’t agree with them. Keep the ball rolling for another 300!

    Also… Southland Tales? Really?!

Keep on keeping on, man. I’ll miss Margaret’s humor, but want the show to continue!

Although I’m sad to see… ehm, hear Margaret leave the show, I can totally understand and relate to someone’s need for a break. And that break is well deserved after all that entertaining shows.

But if the rest of you (especially Rafe, that is) still feels like continuing the show, you should definitely do it!
Thanks to your profound knowledge, your likeable nature(s) and you always wearing your heart in your sleeve, the Weekly Blend is much more than just a couple of guys talking movies. After almost 300 episodes your podcast has build a character of its own, a character that’s worth living on.

And last but not least, your the best entertainment I can think of for my daily commuting routines.

    Keep up the good work!

    Best,
    steve
