I was very tempted to pick something different this week as the pick of the week. After all, Drive Angry looks like great B-movie exploitation, while some of the John Wayne movies (and A Clockwork Orange) are classics. Ultimately, I just couldn’t pass up the appeal of Psych, which takes pot shots at classics like John Wayne movies.

The fifth season of Psych finally delivered the long-promised Twin Peaks episode, which sees Sean and Gus in a similar style town solving a mystery (see the video clip below for the episode’s opening credit sequence). My wife, who has never seen an episode of the classic series, still loved the episode, but for me it was a highlight of an already awesome season, which included some phenomenal dancing from Dule Hill and an awesome villain played by Cary Elwes.

Psych has long been a favorite of the Widescreen Warrior.com staff, and I’m sure you’ll see more from us as the show enters its sixth season this summer. For now, its fifth season is definitely the release worth picking up this week.
