Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil [Write Your Own Review]

Say what you want to about my girl Anne Hathaway, but she knows when to get off a sinking ship. The actress provided the voice of Red in 2005′s Hoodwinked, yet she is the single primary player not to return for this 2011 sequel – a sequel nobody asked for and it appears very few wanted to see. Pushed into theaters on the heels of the success of Hop and Rio, there really wasn’t any need for another animated picture right now, and it appears The Weinstein Company knew it, shoving it into theaters in a crowded weekend and environment where the movie (which got a rousing 10% score from critics at Rotten Tomatoes) could largely be forgotten.

Here’s a few things the critics had to say about Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil (with Hayden Panettiere taking over the Anne Hathaway role)…

There are some nice 3-D swoops and drops, but the more vertiginous entertainment of the film is in the script, as what we think we know is deliciously turned inside out. – Nell Minow, Chicago Sun Times

Hoodwinked Too, which runs an eternity-risking 85 minutes, plays like a jaded rehash of other pictures. And none of those other pictures, sadly, is the original Hoodwinked. – Michael Phillips, Chicago Tribune

Once upon a time, fairy tales were told with beauty, wit, simplicity and charm, a tradition that seems increasingly a thing of the past in Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil. – Justin Chang, Variety
