Closing Tabs: Smurfy Smurfs Edition

Each week we take note of some stories circling the Internet that for some reason, whether it be time or fate or lack of personal interest, we don’t wind up covering on the site. By the end of the week, we wind up with a bunch of tabs open on our browsers and newsreaders that just end up sitting there waiting for more attention. Here’s our attempt to put them to some use, allowing us to close the tabs on our screen and give you links to some of the other news out there this week.

Week of August 30th – September 4th

Tron:Legacy gets a release date opposite The Green Hornet – Let the line campout, and the campout battle with Green Hornet fans begin!

Chuck gets visits from Superman (Brandon Routh)) and his teenage squeeze (Kristen Kreuk) – The showrunner already announced a budget reduction, so I guess we’ll get more Superman and less of the Buy More gang. Oddly, I’m okay with that.

Jeff Foxworthy is a Babe – You might be a Redneck if… you aspire to voice a non-speaking character in an American legend (yeah, it’s a horrible joke, that’s why we didn’t write about it).

Guy Ritchie takes on Lobo – I didn’t realize the headbanded computer guy from Star Wars was getting his own movie. Oh, wait, that’s Lobot.

Jon Favreau talking about playing Cowboys & Indians with Robert Downey Jr. – After the success of Iron Man, Favreau’s just planning on following RDJ everywhere.

Rebecca De Mornay to play another evil mother – Oooh, can we start calling her RDM now, or will that confuse Jon Favreau?

Nicolas Cage to Drive Angry – It’s not a scripted movie. It’s just 3-D cameras following Cage on Los Angeles freeways.

Comic book artist helps foil bank robbers – Add that to the list of people to look out for, right below cops, security guards, and Tom Cruise.

Is this a poster for the CG Smurfs movie? – Stupid Smurfs. Looking all smurfy and thinking their so smurf. Still, I think this poster is a smurf.
